Nelson Lugo: Shows

Deconstructing The Magician

(The Critically Aclaimed One-Man-Show)
60 to 90min. One-Man-Show
This show began in the fall of 2001 as a response to all of those FOX "Magic Secrets Revealed" television specials. What I wanted to create is two-fold: one – a show that didn't expose magic per se but instead, exposed the magician and two – a non-magic show, where the magic was used to further the story not just create spectacle.

The end result is an extraordinary theatrical experience that uses video, music, and sophisticated stage magic to probe the intricate web of lessons, choices and experiences that has shaped and defined one man's life.

In the fun-filled hour of this solo performance you'll witness a classic street hustle, a demonstration of precognitive abilities, a Houdini challenge of a different kind and a re-interpreted re-creation of a classic illusion known as “The Sawing”.

All of which is presented in a rich and generous dialog that explores the questions of “what is real and what is illusion”. When it's over, you may discover that it's not so important how it's done, but why it's done in the first place.
